Steven and Melissa Zeitler are the co-founders of Citra Solv, LLC. About thirty years ago, Steve entered his family’s janitorial supply business, located in Mount Vernon, New York. When OSHA rules required manufacturers to disclose the chemical ingredients in their products, Zeitler took the opportunity to find a natural, plant-based cleaning product, something which had always intrigued him and was tied to a cause he and Melissa strongly believed in: sustainability and “green” living.
Together with his wife Melissa, the Zeitlers transformed the business into Citra-Solv LLC, currently a leader in the natural cleaning products industry. The Zeitlers developed a mission to only manufacture and sell products that are natural, low toxicity, readily biodegradable, cruelty free and, perhaps most importantly, that work really well.
As the product gained acceptance in the wholesale and retail trades, the Zeitlers seized the opportunity to promote environmental awareness through their product line. A series of comics was developed, Rustle the Leaf. Through Rustle, Citra Solv became aligned with environmental organizations such as The Sierra Club. They worked with the Chlorine Free Products Association to try to promote chlorine free paper and use recyclable materials in their packaging to lighten their environmental footprint.
Citra Solv proudly supports vegan events, Earth Day events and environmental causes and organizations such as EMA, Audubon Society, Earth Day Network, The United Methodist Women's Green Team, Global Green, US and Canada Green Party, Orien Publication & PETA.
Smells great and is gentle enough for sensitive skin (eczema sufferes rejoice!). I use it as face wash, fruit/veggie wash, bathroom soap... about 1 year ago
Smells a little weird. The bottle isn't very convenient. A little watery too but washes off easily not like SoftSoap or anything like that. 18 days ago
The soap itself is fine - as good as any other liquid castile. The scent is kind of gross, though. It's like spearmint gum that's gone bad. 6 months ago
